EMILE (heyemile.com) is a family life-admin assistant: you send it messages, forward it emails, and it keeps track of the reminders, events, bills, birthdays and lists in them. This page explains what it collects to do that, what it does with it, who else is involved, and how to get it deleted. Questions: privacy@heyemile.com.
What EMILE collects
- Your Google account email address, when you sign in with Google. It is the name of your account.
- Your WhatsApp number, and the messages, photos and documents you send to EMILE's WhatsApp number. (Also messages sent through the chat box on your dashboard.)
- Emails you forward to your EMILE address, including their attachments and, when the email points to its real content elsewhere (a newsletter link), that linked page. The text is kept so a mistake can be re-read; attachments are not kept.
- What EMILE saves from all of the above: your reminders, events, tasks, bills, birthdays, holidays, shopping lists, notes and price watches — the things you see on your dashboard. These often contain names of family members, including children, schools and places, because that's what family admin is made of.
- Google Calendar data, only if you choose to connect it — see the next section.
- Subscription status. Payments are handled by Stripe; EMILE never sees or stores your card number. It keeps whether your subscription is active and Stripe's reference for it.
- Operational records: counts of how many messages each account sends and what happened to them (saved, answered, skipped), a log of deliveries and errors that is deleted after 14 days, and a message you choose to send us as a feature suggestion.
Google user data
EMILE uses two Google permissions, and nothing else from your Google account.
Sign in with Google
Your email address, used only to identify your account and keep your data separate from everyone else's.
Google Calendar (optional, read-only)
If you press Connect Google Calendar on your dashboard, EMILE asks for read-only access to your calendars. It reads:
- the list of your calendars (names and colours), so you can tick which ones EMILE reads;
- the events in the calendars you ticked — title, time, location and link — for the days it needs.
It uses them only for features you can see:
- showing your calendar's events in your morning summary, your Sunday week-ahead and on your dashboard;
- warning you when something you save in EMILE clashes with an event already in your calendar;
- asking whether you need a present when a birthday in your calendar is coming up.
What is stored:the access token that lets EMILE read your calendar, which calendars you ticked, and — for an item you saved in EMILE that clashes with a calendar event — that event's title, time and link, so the warning can be shown. Calendar events are otherwise read fresh each time and not kept.
Never: EMILE never creates, changes or deletes anything in your calendar. Calendar data is never sold, never used for advertising, never sent to an AI model, and never used to train one. It is shown only to you — on your dashboard, and in summaries delivered to your own WhatsApp number.
Disconnecting: press Disconnect in the Google Calendar chip on your dashboard, which deletes the stored token, or remove EMILE at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
How your messages and emails are read
To work out what a message or email means — is it an event, a bill, a question? — EMILE sends its text, and any photo or document attached, to Google's Gemini AI service, along with your saved items when you ask a question about them. Gemini returns the structured result, which EMILE saves. Your Google Calendar is not part of this.
Who else is involved
EMILE does not sell your data or show you ads. It relies on these services to run:
- Google Cloud / Firebase — hosting, sign-in and the database where everything above is stored.
- Google Gemini — reading messages and emails, as described above.
- Meta (WhatsApp) — carrying messages between you and EMILE, including your reminders and summaries.
- Stripe — subscriptions and payments.
- Cloudflare — receiving the emails you forward to your EMILE address.
- Resend — sending EMILE's own emails to you (welcome and setup guides).
Each processes data only to provide its part of the service. EMILE may also disclose data if the law requires it.
Keeping and deleting your data
- Your saved items stay until you discard them, or until you ask for your account to be deleted.
- You can discard any item from your dashboard at any time.
- If your subscription ends, nothing is deleted — you can still read your dashboard.
- The delivery and error log is deleted automatically after 14 days.
- To delete your whole account and everything in it, email privacy@heyemile.comfrom your account's address. You can also ask what EMILE holds about you, or for it to be corrected.
Security
Data is stored on Google Cloud and is only reachable by EMILE's own server — the database is closed to direct access. Each account sees only its own data. Connections are encrypted (HTTPS).
Children
EMILE is for parents and carers. Accounts are for adults; children don't use it themselves, although what their family saves will often be about them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and anything significant will be announced to you on WhatsApp.
